Best Practice Guide
RS: Want to check contents/outline of BP guide
TR: For the first section, work with AH to make sure same info is not repeated verbatim.
The same topics can be in both guides but should be explained in different ways,
and in diffrent levels of detail.
TR: Should PIP/LBE be in User Guide?
AH: No, as service not widespread.
SL: Now not using WikiWords as pointers
AH: That helps with cut-and-paste.
SL: Would be good to enhance measurement section, particularly on traceroute and IPPM
OMcG: AM working ion that; nearly finished
RS: Will ask DFN Erlangen (Win Labor) to contribute info on IPPM.
SL: Also would be good to add section on MTU
RS: OK, will add that
AH: Also section on the ineffciency of using large LANs
This info that campus admins can use to justify the risk and effort of redesigning campus LANs.
Will produce short article
OMcG: Will help with that
User Guide
AH: Will scale down content of duplex mismatch section.
With Hardware section, hope to expand with more info,
alternatively will merge with OS info into one 'End Host' section.
AH: Will work with RS so that proper 'Investigating Issues' part is in each guide.
The User Guide will include a section on 'Reporting Problems'
RS to cut and paste what he needs from Perf Investigation part of User Guide
TR: Way ahead - try to get content finished in 2 weeks.
Then compile Guides as annexes (Enclosures) to a covering sheet (which is the Deliverable).
This will most probably be done by DANTE (me)
AH: HEAnet busy next week, but should be OK to work the following week.
SL: Should be able to conference in whilst at IETF in Paris.
Will mail propsed date/time for a teleconf sometime in the first week of Aug
AH/RS: OK with us.
