TR send
RS NREN Tools link and
RS to add DFN tool details
Identification and Invitation of Potential PERT SMEs
No progress so far.
TR to send an e-mail to SA3 list and APMs asking
them for input to each of
- The NREN Tools page
- The NREN SME page
- The potential SME page
SL to expand the NREN SME page (
NrenSmeList) to include an SMEs "by subject" as well as the SME "by NREN" table
PERT Access to NREN Non-Public Tools
SL: Would be good to get access to non-public statistics
TR: Could request a single account to access non-public NREN details -
SL: single, shared accounts are not ideal but to have individual accounts for each SME poses a scalability issue
TR: ... and might deter NRENs from helping out (too many accounts to create).
OMcG: Could have a half way house, whereby each CM org has a login
TR: Will start by sending e-mail to APMs asking if PERT CMs can have a login for their non-public statistics page
PERT Documentation
SL: User Guide almost complete; Best Practice Guide (a.k.a. Campus Guide) much less developed
RS: Of the 9 Chapters in the Campus Guide, only 2 have content (most KB content has been included in the User Guide).
TR: Much of the content in the User Guide has relevance to the Campus Guide.
ALL: Will re-use info in both guides, with User guide being simpler but with background, and Campus Guide having more technical detail
OMcG: Will tell Ann that the Trouble Shooting section is going to be moved to the Campus Guide,
and entries should be re-phrased to make them simpler (detail will be going in the Campus Guide).
RS: Will post early draft tomorrow - end of next week for more complete draft.
PTS Enhancement Requests
(Short of time so postponed to next meeting)
BB: Will update Wiki with comments ref PTS - comment at next meeting
PERT Staffing:
TR: Some CMs finding it hard to dedicate their time to PERT (particularly those working by themselves).
To address this we have 3 options:
1) Assign the CM function to a single, dedicated organisation (NREN or GN2 NOC)
2) Revert the PERT to a more voluntary, less guaranteed service (as it used to be)
3) Continue in the same format, but encourage participating NRENs to act so as to ensure CM role is covered
SL: Think the current method (3) is best. It is worthwhile spreading the CM role, not concentrating it in one organisation,
so that more people benefit from the experience of working on the PERT..
VS, AP: Agree
SL: CMs having to work on other matters should try to get a substitute.
It helps when there are 2 or 3 CMs working at a time.
AP: That is what FCCN are now doing (rather than having a single CM)
TR: Will send e-mail advising NRENs to spread CM role amongst 2 or 3 people, and to get a substitute if required (because of workload).
Proposed End-to-End Workshop
TR: Workshop planned as GN2 Milestone but no budget assigned. Options are either to have it as a side session (approx 40 people) as part of a larger GNs event,
or have a small workshop (20 people) which would be much cheaper and can be covered out of normal project running costs.
I will determine which option to go ahead with, but meanwhile what should be target audience? A PERT self-teaching session or more end-user focussed
SL: Good to have End users present - we could ask them to send in their questions and concerns and then address them at the workshop.
BB: Would be good also to have NOC staff as well
PTS Users
BB: Only 3 Primary customers at the moment
TR: Will send a reminder to APMs. but may be in a few weeks, so as not to overlaod them with mail.
Next conf call to take place before
SL goes on leave, to discuss
Deliverables in particular, and to include
SL,
RS,
AH and
