ESA's ESTEC Site

ESTEC is a large ESA site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Noordwijk is on the Dutch North Sea coast near Leiden.

The machines involved in the throughput test are on a special network, which is connected to SURFnet, and through SURFnet to GEANT. The machines are

  • grid-medialab1.estec.esa.int [195.169.140.50]
  • grid-medialab4.estec.esa.int [195.169.140.53]

The link to SURFnet is an unprotected 1Gb/s (Gigabit Ethernet) link to SURFnet's router in Leiden. (information courtesy SURFnet)

Here is a Layer Four Traceroute to one of these machines:

$ lft -D eth1 -s 1113 -d 21 grid-medialab1.estec.esa.int.
