TCP throughput Problem on 150ms path between 10GE connected endsystems

PERT Case 32

Synopsis

Users at the Technical University in Dresden want to achieve Multi-Gigabit TCP throughput with one TCP stream between TU Dresden and Indiana University in the US. Their initial results showed that with an MTU of 1500 they could achieve 2.5Gbps, but with an MTU of 9000 they could only achieve 1Gbps. With subsequent tuning of the NICs they could achieve a stable 6Gbps.
