Agenda / Proceedings
Welcome / Agenda Bashing
CAT 2.1 production deployment
- Apologies for occasionally sluggish response - it’s holiday time
- Windows installers
- “Network installation had errors”? How wide-spread is this? And does the installation (sometimes?) succeed anyways?
- GEANTLink was missing for EAP/TTLS - fixed
- “Organisation Custom Network” not appreciated? Appears to be shown not only during the installation but also in the SSID list. If so, better roll back so that users see the actual SSID.
- ChromeOS
- change of URL to chrome://network confirmed?
- StefanP to verify with his ChromeOS once shipped
- OpenRoaming inclusion - experiences?
- Document the oddities we know
- ideally code-nudge those who set RCOIs manually can now use the checkbox instead
- placement of networks on Android varies between OSes and builds, with different places for deletion as well.
- Nudge Paul to make a matrix about which Android version does what how.
- More than the current “Apps” page says (https://wiki.geant.org/display/H2eduroam/eduroam+Apps)
- Other experiences to share?
- Have a FAQ about 2.1 behaviour changes/issues.
- Probe on cat-users about the extent and conditions for the Windows installation error issue
- Everybody: please keep an ear on the ground to get better intel
- maybe enhance the download page with an “Issue with this installer?” button that sends basic inst info to … NRO? CAT admins? Record in DB with an identifier, to be able to reference? Link to diagnostics for asking further questions.
- ChromeOS has deprecated network-internals API - configurability with CAT might stop working in 2025.
2a. CAT API performance question: “all info about a federation” - there is a dedicated admin API call doing this efficiently; better than iterating over every single org or profile
- Recurring: Passpoint hardware and onboarding chit-chat
- Samsung: their own Samsung IDs have precedence over any app-installed Openroaming IDs
- Google Pixel installs Google ID by default, can add eduroam one, and if so, eduroam ID is preferred
- Samsung installs Samsung ID by default, can add eduroam one, and if so, Samsung ID is preferred (eduroam ignored)
