To help you prepare for the Learning Needs Assessment meeting, we advise you to consider the following questions. It is useful to keep in mind your team, the project collaboration, competition, innovation and industry trends when thinking about these questions.
BIG PICTURE QUESTIONS

- What does objectives must your Work Package is set to achieve this year?
- How do you expect training will relate to achieving these results?
What external factors need to be considered when working towards your goals? Think of competition, innovation, industry trends?
What internal factors need to be considered when working towards your goals? Team collaboration, team knowledge skills homogeneity, time constraints?
UNDERSTAND THE CURRENT PERFORMANCE
- What knowledge and skills do your team members need to be successful?
- What kind of projects/activities/tasks are most difficult? Where do things break or stop?
- What is it that you would like to be able to do? How does this translate into knowledge/skills?
FUTURE NEEDS
- What does the future look like in your environment?
- Are there any new ideas, methods, processes or challenges on the horizon?
- What skills or knowledge needs do you foresee for your Work package in the future?
TRAINING REQUESTS TO SUBMIT
- Which training requests do you want to submit?
- Who should be taking part in the programme and why?
FOCUS ON EVALUATION
- evaluate progress towards these objectives of i) the WP ii) individual Tasks?
- What Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or metrics do you monitor regularly?
CURRENT SITUATION
- Which KPI or objective is the most challenging - or presents the greatest opportunity for your WP/Task?
- What knowledge, skills, attitudes or behaviours would enhance the team’s performance towards these deliverables?
FUTURE NEEDS
- What future challenges or opportunities do you anticipate for GN5? New objectives, processes, system?
- What knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviour will be needed?
INDIVIDUAL/TEAM NEEDS
- What learning needs are you aware of for teams or individuals?
- What knowledge, skills, attitudes or behaviours would enhance their ability to deliver their objectives?
EVALUATION
- How will we know that learning has been effective?
- What metrics can be used to assess how learning has impacted your ability to deliver your Work Package’s KPIs and objectives?
PLANNED TRAINING
- Does your WP plan to offer any training this year?
- What support might you need from GLAD? When
- How will you know that the training worked? How will you measure the desired outcomes?
- How will we know that the training has been effective?
