The SIG may follow a horizontal approach as AI is part of many topics today. The main themes of the SIG AI will be AI and Cybersecurity, Network Automation, Next Generation Networks, Ethics, Policy and Above-the-Net Applications. The members discussed the importance of other topics as AI for Education and Infrastructure for AI, but agreed to start with a narrower approach, with the focus on AI and its potential applications in networking. For the future, this other topics may be and discussed to be included. Collaboration with other SIGs are also planned: SIG NGN, SIG ISM / GÉANT Security Conference and SIG MSP.

The one year roadmap was presented:

The SC members agreed to propose a side meeting for the SIG AI for TNC2025 and to submit a proposal for a session.

The SIG meetings should preferably be in person, the Steering Committee meetings preferably remotely and once a month.

For the first meeting of the SIG-AI in December 2024, Marcin Wolski (PSNC) has agreed to check whether a meeting at PSNC is possible. If so, he will confirm the dates by 30.09.2024.

For the second meeting, which is to take place during the GEANT security conference, Albert Hankel from (SURF) has agreed to help with the organisation.

As soon as date and location of the first SIG-AI meeting are agreed on, we will send out a message to the community inviting people to become part of the SIG, subscribe the mailing list and participate at the first meeting in person.

A Wiki-Page will be created to help on the coordination and organisation of the First Meeting and the draft agenda for the SIG-AI First Meeting will be discussed and detailed at the next SC Meeting.
